Living Lakes is thrilled to announce the second edition of the Sustainability Leadership Journey (SLJ), a transformative experience designed for young, passionate conservation leaders, students, and sustainability and nature enthusiasts. Taking place from October 9-13 in The Philippines, the SLJ offers a unique platform to connect, collaborate, and empower the younger generation to thrive in sustainability leadership.

Living Lakes announces the 2nd Sustainability Leadership Journey

Hosted by the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc (SCPW) and the Global Nature Fund, as part of the Living Lakes Biodiversity & Climate Project, the SLJ will unfold in the breathtaking settings of Laguna de Bay and Paligui Wetlands in the Philippines, close to the capital city of Manila.

The SLJ is designed to be an enriching adventure filled with experiential learning and field demonstrations, interactive lectures and workshops, storytelling sessions, and networking opportunities with other change-makers and conservation leaders from the Philippines and across the world – fostering stimulating discussions about lake conservation and restoration. There will also be time to get inspired by the stunning beauty of the Philippine wetlands, with field visits and bird-watching activities.

During the event, we will explore the values and motivations that drive effective leadership and delve into the power of communication, capacity-building, education, participation, and awareness-raising (CEPA). These elements create an environment where teams and individuals can flourish, reaching higher levels of performance for the benefit of nature and the local communities they serve.

The preliminary program is available here: https://livinglakes.org/slj2023/

Throughout the Journey, we will align our discussions and activities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on key areas such as clean water and sanitation, poverty, education, gender equality, sustainable cities and communities, climate action, and partnerships for development. We will also discover the importance of personal leadership in conserving and restoring wetlands and learn how to empower and mobilize stakeholders to take action.

Registration is now open! Sign up today for this unique opportunity to be part of the change our lakes and wetlands need.
