The SCPW, with support from the Protected Area Management Office (PAMO) of the Las Piñas – Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP), facilitated the field exposure of students and Faculty of the Architectural Association School of London (AA School of London), United Kingdom, and the University of Santo Tomas College of Architecture (USTCA) at the LPPWP on February 5, 2024.
This visit to the wetland park is an integral component of the jointly hosted symposium of AA School of London and USTCA titled “The Forest Gaze” which aimed at addressing the significance of forests, nature, and the environment in urban settings. The exposure to LLPWP forms a crucial part of their immersion, providing valuable insights into the surroundings, existing structures, and operations of LPPWP as chosen study site.
The team was welcomed by Ms. Amy Lecciones, Executive Director of SCPW, and Mr. Diego Montesclaros, Assistant Protected Area Superintendent of LPPWP. Before embarking on the wetland walk and park tour, participants were presented with an audio-visual about wetlands and a pre-recorded presentation of Ar. Aaron Lecciones, SCPW Design Team Lead and Board of Trustees member, detailing the journey of SCPW in designing the LLPWP.
Subsequently, the team explored various facilities within LPPWP, including the auditorium, wetland wave, the newly established museum, boardwalk, among others. The tour was guided by the PAMO Staff, providing an in-depth understanding of the park’s features and its ecological significance.
