In celebration of the International Day for Biodiversity and the Month of the Ocean, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – National Capital Region (DENR-NCR), in partnership with the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc. (SCPW), successfully conducted the awarding ceremonies of the LPPWP mobile photography contest last May 20, 2022. The event was part of the 15th Anniversary on the proclamation of Las Piñas – Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA), now known as Las Piñas – Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP), as a Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area.
The event was attended by students, local government officials, heads and representatives from DENR and other government agencies, representatives from non-government organizations, photographers and other event partners.
The event was opened by messages from Regional Executive Director Jacqueline Caancan and Assistant Regional Director Manuel Escasura of DENR-NCR. It was highlighted by a mini talk show guested by Ms. Amy Lecciones of the Society for the Conservation of Philippine Wetlands, Inc. and Mr. Mike Lu of Wild Bird Club of the Philippines, and the announcement and awarding of winners of the mobile photography contest.
The exhibit of winning entries was also officially opened by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the event organizers and partners. It is being displayed at the Wetland Center Wave at LPPWP and is open for public viewing.
